New Opportunities to Learn About the World

Summer holidays are over and on September 1st our gymnasium “Harmony” family will open its doors again to over 1,300 students. We will also welcome new 7-year-old learners and take them along the most exciting road of education towards their successful and productive future.

They are lucky children because they are ensured free primary and secondary education in Russia. They have all the opportunities to learn sciences as well as develop their multiple skills and competences. But as future global citizens, they should be aware of how their peers live and learn in other parts of the world. They should know about the problems children face in some countries like gender inequality in getting education, poverty and hunger which make children drop school to earn their living at an early age, etc.

This project – Open the Doors of Learning to All - will be a great opportunity for them to collaborate with peers from other countries and help each other learn more about their authentic cultures, customs, school life, music, pictures and videos. It will enhance their learning and help them develop into peaceful global citizens who will make a difference and work for sustainable development of the whole world.

Happy School Year 2010-2011, the year of new opportunities for our children to learn with the world about the world.

  2. Dear Alusine,
There are private schools in Russia too, though they are not great in number. The majority of schools are state ones where education is free. In my school there's the Development Fund which sponsors some urgent projects. Parents make donations to this Fund.
University education is free for those who excel at the Unified State Exams while others have to pay for the studies. As you can see successful students' performance in school paves the way to free higher education.
